Pagan Britain?

My hope was to secure a New Revised Standard Version of the Bible as a gift and my search was confined to the City of Bradford, one of the largest UK metropolitan authorities and at the turn of the last century a powerhouse of Christian nonconformity with Baptist minister J P Chown preaching to thousands in Zion Chapel (now a Gudwarha). SPCK was closed, Waterstones only had the Koran, W H Smith only “Christening Bibles”. Finally a small fundamentalist Christian bookshop full of New Revised King James Bibles revealed one cope of a New Revised Standard Version which they had ordered “as an experiment”. – Keith
