Student Success and the end of a Programme

Masters Students Ross Hamilton, Adianes Ponce and Filip Grujić

This June saw four students complete their studies with IBTS Centre on Manchester University courses. Three completed their Masters degree and one completed the PostGraduate Certificate. Our congratulations to Ross (with distinction), Adianes, Filip and Jesse.

In January 2017 Manchester University announced that it was withdrawing from validation of all non-UK programmes and quite a few UK programmes as well. This brings to an end both the Masters and PostGraduate Certificate programmes we have been running for some years.

We do not intend to replace the Masters programme as many of our EBF region seminaries and colleges now have a Masters provision and it’s not our role to compete with them for students. However, we have put together a new PostGraduate Research Certificate in Theology which is specifically tailored for students, already holding a Masters, to come and prepare for PhD research and progress into the Graduate School of the Faculty of Religion and Theology of the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. The European Council for Theological Education are working with us to accredit the programme.

There are currently six students on the new PostGraduate Certificate programme and a further six have been offered places for the January 2020 intake with a few more applications to be considered. We are grateful for the ongoing support of EBF members and mission partners as our research community grows and develops.
