… is drawing to its close. We had four weeks focusing on different themes: general environmental issues (during which we worked hard cleaning the campus and have sent some chicken to places of need in the Majority World); Flora Week (some bushes planted); Fauna Week (listened to various birds singing and tried to guess which they were), and, currently Food and Environment Week.
One of these weeks, CAT students have concentrated on creation care in their classes as well. As one of the outcomes of those days, CATs shared various thoughts and visuals, which we’d like to share with you as well. Here comes the first – written by Benjamin Bruggeman (Belgium).
Actually at the beginning I didn’t expect to write a poem. It should have been just a prayer. Though it’s still a prayer I wanted to write it in a sweeter way and I hope you will appreciate it.
I decided to start by giving thanks to the Lord because what He created is beautiful and then confess that I had sinned against Him and ask for forgiveness. At the end I close the poem by seeking His help for this mission. I want to summarise it like that:
– Thanks for what You have done because it is perfect.
– Forgive me for what I have done because what You created perfect I’ve made it imperfect.
– Give me wisdom and work through me to change what I made imperfect and to rebuild it perfect.
It’s not just a vision but it’s our mission
Thank you Father for having created the heavens.
It reminds me how small are your children.
Forgive me my God, arrogantly I chose my way.
Why did I decide to go far away?
Thank you Father, between the sky and the water,
You gave me the earth as my own mother.
Forgive me my God, I had all I needed in your presence.
But I decided to write by myself my own sentence.
Thank you Father, in the arms of my own mother
I find the love that I need forever.
Forgive me my God, instead of being faithful,
I used your freedom to be unfaithful.
Thank you Father, you decided to create a person.
And I have the chance to be called your son.
Forgive me my God for having destroyed your creation.
Please give me the wisdom to do my mission.
